THE D LEAGUE FFL CONSTITUTION
1.0 League Overview
Welcome to the D League. The D League was originally created in 2010, and has morphed into the beautiful beast we have today. This league is considered a money league, and all owners are expected to pay their league fees by the deadlines set. This league is designed to be a competition between owners, but not a cutthroat league where anything goes. The rules described below are designed to act as a guideline for overall league play, and any disputes will be handled by the Commissioner. Please remember that the overall goal of this league is to have fun and enjoy fantasy football. if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
The commissioner will be responsible for resolving all disputes that are not expressly covered by this constitution. All owners are encouraged to submit suggestions, but the commissioner's decision on all matters is final.
All payments will be placed in the League Accounts using Venmo to the league Venmo account. The pot money will be kept separate in it's own account.
Each owner/team will have a franchise/brand as a part of the D League. To facilitate this, the following rule will be established:
By June 1st, those without franchises will automatically be assigned to the Gold League. If there are more teams than 12, a random selection of teams over 12 will be placed in White with lowest standing. Relegation for the rest of the league will occur as normal.
To have a franchise established, these items will be needed. A uniform template (Home and Away, with Home not being White) with logo + wordmark, usable for jersey orders (I can provide), a separate logo file in .png, and font names that you used. You can do this on your own or have it done through the designer, as long as the requirements are met.
1.3 Living Constitution
It is important to note that this is a living, breathing constitution that will change and evolve over the lifetime of this league. If you have suggestions for changes, please submit them.
2.0 League Financing
- Payments will be managed through LeagueSafe
- Cost of entry is $130, plus draft fees due one month before the draft
- Entry fee breakdown is 100 for the league, 20 for the side pots, and 10 for draft boards and website fees.
- Penalty for late payment is a negative score calculated as follows
- (Number of days late) for a number of games equal to weeks late
-i.e. 14 days late is -14 points for two weeks
- If no payment received two weeks before the draft, that owner will be dropped from their team.
- League Payouts will be as follows for the 12 man leagues
- 1st/700, 2nd/300, 3rd/100,Highest Points Regular Season/100
- Side Pot Payouts (Rolling Pot for Perfect Game, 40 a week for Weekly Games)
3.0 League Setup and Competition
The D League will consist of 4 leagues. Currently these consist of a 12 man President’s League, a 12 man Royal Purple and 12 man White league, and an 12 man Gold league. Relegation will occur at the end of each season as per the league relegation spreadsheet.
After the completion of the regular season, the top six teams will make the playoffs. The top two teams by record and then points will be awarded a first round bye. These Playoffs will start Week 14 and run through Week 16. Those not making the playoffs will play in a ladder format for the remaining rankings.
3.2 Side Pots - Paid out at the end of the season
A. The Perfect Game
This side pot game will consist of a year to year rolling pot across all leagues. Owners that have all their starting players get at least 10 points in a game will win the pot. This pot can be split if multiple teams do this over the course of a season.
B. Weekly Contests
This side pot game will consist of weekly contests for 12 weeks across all leagues. Winners of each game will take a pot consisting of ((total members x 10)/12). It is possible that there are ties, and then those two winners would split that pot.
C. Yearly Assistance Raffle
Over the course of the year, assistance requested by the commissioner (writing articles, helping with the website, ect) can be rewarded with entries in the year end raffle. The drawing will occur after the season and pay out 100 dollars.
4.0 The Draft
The draft will be held on the Saturday of the third or fourth weekend in August, alternating years.
Two draft locations will be selected from the pre-approved list by the year's League Champion, for the draft taking place the year after next. (i.e. the 2016 champion will be selecting for 2018.) From these two selections the league will vote on the final draft location. This vote will use the participation weighting system algorithm to calculate the final location total.
1 + (# of Years in the League x .10) + (# of Drafts Attended x .20) + (.50 if Franchised)
Example if a person was in the league 5 years, attended 3 drafts, and had a franchise, their vote would be worth 2.6 in the vote for the draft location.
Owners are expected to either attend the draft in person or make arrangements to participate remotely. Draft order will be determined by random draw, to be recorded and posted as record.
4.1 The Draft Location Submission Process
Anyone in the league can submit a location. Please submit a Draft Plan to the commissioner with the following elements included:
2. Lodging/Lodging Cost
3. Draft Location/ Cost
6. Other perks
7. How to get people there/back, how travel will work
8. Per person estimate of cost
1. Keep the cost of the draft under 650 dollars per person, including airfare and airport uber/train, for required expenses. Lower is better
3. Know the wifi situation for the actual draft, where and how we would do the draft, and how remote drafters would work.
4. Not in Des Moines.
When you send your submission with all the details, make sure you've called/emailed all the applicable parts of your idea (hotel, cabins, draft location, whatever), and that our group could be accommodated. The idea is I can go down the list and reserve the location without additional tracking down of details.
4.2 Free Agency
Free agency will be handled by ESPN’s FAAB system. Each team will have a pool of 100 dollars for the whole season with which to pick up players.
4.2 Trades and Trade Veto
Trading is encouraged in the D League. The commissioner reserves the right to reverse any trade that they deem inconsistent with league competition and fair-play standards. This veto will only be invoked in extreme cases where it is obvious that one owner is trying to give another owner an unfair advantage. The owners in question may offer reasons why the trade should be allowed, but the decision of the commissioner is final once it has been rendered. The Trade Deadline will be at Midnight, the Wednesday before the Week 11 games. After this point no trades will be allowed.
-15 man teams. QB, RB, RB, RB/WR/TE, WR, WR, TE, DEF, K with a 6 slot bench.
4.3 Inactivity Penalties
In order to maintain the integrity of the league, it is vital that owners participate week to week.
Using a combination of MFL's "last login" feature and the MFL "automatic lineup setting' feature, if it's determined that a player has not been active for two weeks, the commissioner reserves the right to reassign ownership of the inactive team.
If no owner can be found, the strongest lineup per week will be used to prevent easy games, with no trades, pickups, or drops. Any money won by autopilot teams will be distributed back to the league.
4.4 Tanking Penalties
The D League is a competitive league, created for the league owners to have fun playing some fantasy football. While competition is paramount, this is not a cut-throat league. In the spirit of competition and fairness, owners are not allowed to intentionally create a legal starting lineup that gives the opposing team a clear advantage. The commissioner reserves the right to step in and adjust the starting lineup of a team that is clearly trying to lose a game on purpose. If the commissioner must adjust a team’s lineup twice, the team will be considered inactive and the commissioner may put that team on autopilot as detailed in the Inactivity Penalties section.
5.0 Scoring System
- Scoring will be handled by using ESPN standard decimal scoring with the addition of a .5 PPR rule.
6.0 Fair Play, Conduct, Prohibited Transactions Notes
A: Collusive transactions
Collusion occurs when one team makes moves to benefit another team, without trying to improve its own position. One-sided trades are an obvious example of this. Another example is when a player drop is made so another team can pick up that player. Teams found in violation of this policy will be cancelled and reversed. I am relying on League Members to make me aware of transactions like this as soon as they happen. One week transactions, or other “Library Trades” are prohibited, and the transaction that would reverse the original trade will be reversed.
B: Impeding other owners
Cycling through players in free agency to put them on waivers and make them unavailable to other teams in your league is strictly prohibited.
C: Roster Dumping
Owners that are found to have dumped their players to the player pool in an attempt to undermine the league may be subject to immediate expulsion from the league.
D: “The Dusty and Jeff Rule”
Owners will be in charge of running their team, and their team alone. It’s perfectly permissible to ask for advice, but all actions taken by a team must be by its manager. If you are not able to do it for a week, call me and I’ll help you out.
7.0 Prizes and Punishments
A. The Trophy and The Hall of Victory
- The Gavel is our perpetual trophy, and a picture of the winner with the trophy will be placed in The Hall of Victory.
- The Gavel will be shipped at the conclusion of the season to that year's champion postmarked within one month of the championship. Failure to do this on time will enact the same penalty as paying late until it's received by the new champion.
- If a person damages the trophy they purchase a new one of the same type and engraving before being let into the league again. If that owner drops from the league, the league will vote on a replacement.
-Engraving of the nameplate will be done by the winner on receipt of the trophy. Name plate can be taken off and sent in to the company. To order a new tag, you can mail in the next blank tag for $5. Use the following instructions:

C. Piss Boy and the Gallery of Shame
Piss Boy - On draft day, the loser will be decked out with a beautiful crown and "Piss Boy" sash. This will be worn for the draft weekend, so everyone will get to see what a special person you are.
